The Upper Hutt City Council appears to be thumbing its nose at residents and ratepayers of Pinehaven and Silverstream when it comes to fair and open consultation on their 2021-2031 Long Term Plan.
Hundreds of legitimate submissions and a petition containing over2300 names focused on opposing the proposed land ownership transfer of the unspoiled Silverstream Spur to a private housing developer and the critically flawed flood map modelling for the Pinehaven stream works were put into the “irrelevant” category and apparently were not even discussed or acknowledged at the recent council meeting to approve the Long Term Plan.
The most frightening thing about this situation is that it is being repeated by Councils all over the greater Wellington region resulting in items being approved despite overwhelming written objections and countless submissions from the public.
Where will it all end?
